Patio Cushion Redo for a Scottsdale Silverleaf Residence

Our client beautiful home is nestled in a private enclave of custom estate homes and intimate retreats tucked into the canyons of the McDowell Mountains in North Scottsdale Arizona where the downtown and mountain views are amazing.

Arcadia Design and Stitch had just finished refreshing the look of their family room by re-upholstering their sectional sofa, two club chairs, ottoman, new roman shades and accessories. (We will need to take some good photos and share them with you in another post.)

Next it was time to move outside to their covered patio:

Arcadia Design and Stitch Patio Renovation

Our client had a head start, they had great furniture to work with from OW Lee “Classico Collection” , all the furniture needed was a fresh powder coating and new cushions. We worked together to chose a wonderfully fun blue, white and yellow color palate to brighten up the exterior and complement the color of the pool. All the fabrics we chose were from Perennials and the brush fringe on the pillows from Giati Fabrics. The fabric on all the cushions is Chameleon color french lilac, style number 900-77, for the welting and the back of the pillows we used Rough’n Rowdy color Blanca style 955-28. Custom box pillows in Swizzle color French Lilac style 795-77 with Giatti Terry Cloth Brush Fringe, Crema #GTF-29 and my favorite fun pillows in Holy Mackerel color Sunfish style 180-129 with Brush Fringe by Giati Fabrics Laguna Blue / Crema #GBF-25.

We would love to help you with your patio renovation whether its just a few new pillows to add some color, refinishing your existing patio furniture or all new outdoor furniture with accessories.

Chaise Lounge Makeover

Chaise Lounge

My client really wanted a new fresh look for her pool area, the fabric on the cushions was brown and outdated . Living here in the Phoenix desert is wonderful but you want your back yard bright and colorful.

We started with powder coating their existing chaise lounges in black. Next we made new box cushions in Sunbrella canvas white with contrasting welt in canvas black. Just changing the cushion style made such a difference in the look. We added lumbers in a black and white awning stripe also from Sunbrella.
Painting the surrounding the fence and low walls in white really brightened up the space. Lastly we added some fun colorful flowers to the blue flower pots.

Custom draperies

Custom Drapery

It’s amazing how added draperies can really change the look and feel of a room. The fabric we used is very affordable, less than $30 per yard, but makes a great impact. We used a Robert Alan designed for Dwell Studio fabric, lined with custom wood hardware and rings by Helser Brothers.  The sofa in the living space is grey linen with co-ordinating prints also from Dwell Studios.

New Fabrics for Fall 2012

While shopping at the Design Center the other day I had the great pleasure to meet the local rep from Jab Fabrics. He was showing the new fabrics for the fall, full of color textures and patterns.
JAB was created in 1956 in Germany and prides itself on creating beautiful classic and timeless fabrics, trimmings and hardware. Their new collections are colorful and fun.

Cafe cushions with floral border, hot pink welting and green inserts ,sweet little double ruffled pillows, hot pink table cloth and napkins all fabrics from the English Collection.

Their American collection in reds, blues and beiges. Using plaids and small prints on the ruffled seat and back pillows is a fun option instead of your knife edge or box cushions. I would love to make these for a client.
I love this kitchen nook and how three different fabrics were used on the slipcovered chairs around the table .  The cabbage rose fabric used on the very relaxed roman shades looks casual but romantic.

I know the craze here in in the USA thanks to Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn ect. is to have everything monochromatic: greys, whites and burlap but I believe there is a place to add color and patterns and a way to do it tastefully to keep it timeless.
